Digital competencies – state and future
Abstract
To be equally included in todays digital society, every citizen should poses at least some digital competences. The need for those skills was especially evident during the COVID-19 epidemic, when we have moved many activities such as education, trade, entertainment, socializing and also work where possible., to a virtual environment and to the web. In the article we first present the set of knowledge and skills that are considered as digital competencies, then we explore the situation in the field of digital competences in the European Union and Slovenia, and finally present some current initiatives to strengthen digital competencies.
