Abstract

The Student project work was introduced in the first level bologna course of mechatronics. The first level bologna course takes six semesters and the students start with the project work in the fourth semester, proceed in the fifth and finish in the sixth semester, where the last project is finished with the diploma work. The project work is assessed with 8 ECTS in each semester. Together there are 24 ECTS. Half of the time, defined with ECTS, is designed for contact hours; the second half of the time is the autonomous students work. Each year the project works are announced and they are publicly offered to the students. Afterwards the students chose that one which is the most interesting for each group. The projects are organized to synergetic connect theoretical knowledge, which the students get from the theoretical and professional subjects, and the application, which is requested in the project work. The aim of the work is not limited just to public presented oral report about the work at the end of the semester, but also to the mechatronic product, which must be realized. In this contribution a good example of a student project work is presented. This project work is developed from year to year with new students and tasks. The work is based on the design and construction and permanent modification of a robotised industrial production cell for spot welding. This year the new generation of students will equip the robot with new equipment for milling of arbitrary 3D shapes for products with dimensions to 2m3. The robotised industrial production cell is then used in the education for student laboratory work and for different research applications in robotics and robotisation.
